The Savior instructed us to keep the Sabbath holy. "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book,…" (Revelation 1: 10-11 in the Bible) The apostle John received the revelation contained in the Book of Revelation on the Lord's day. "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them …" (Acts 20: 7 in the Bible) And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day." (Deuteronomy 5: 12,15)įrom the Resurrection of Jesus Christ to the present:įrom the days of the early Apostles until today, the Sabbath has been the first day of the week in commemoration of the fact that Jesus Christ was resurrected and came forth out of the Grave on Sunday the first day of the week.
